Discover Media and App-Connect?

Discover media in a T6 high line, is app connect a coding issue (vagcom) or a dealer cost? From looking at the coding there are lots and lots of potential boxes to tick.

Does anyone have a fully configured unit and the associated label file?

Thanks

As above, it’s deeper than coding and requires ODIS (online) to input the activation code

yeah, I know this is an old topic,
BUT do I understand correctly that the VW T6 has a means to connect to the internet/the outside world/the VW dealership?
does the T6 has a SIM-card or similar?
And as far as I have no CAR-NET nor CAR-connect, can I somehow disable or remove the SIMcard?
but keeping the bleutooth operational!

just curious..

Jan.

My Discover Media/MIB2 (whatever you want to call it) does not have a SIM slot. Nor does it appear to have an eSIM installed.

I've been unable to tether my phone to it, I don't believe CAR-NET does anything useful so I've lost interest.

Generally speaking you can connect your DM unit to the Internet in 2 different ways.
One is wireless, by connecting your DM unit to your mobile phone with a Hotspot/Mobile Router Wi-Fi mode enabled.
The other one is to plug in a GSM modem(with a SIM card) to one of your USB sockets.

The main, and the only one in my opinion, advantage of a CAR-NET is the access to live road traffic data via VW SAT-NAV and maps.

By default CAR-NET is only available to the owners with a factory fitted DM.
Fortunately the CAR-NET has been cracked and now equivalent of a VW service can be purchased elsewhere at reasonable price.
And this service works regardless of the DM being factory installed or retrofitted.

Interesting
Didn't know it (typically) only worked with factory installs. Mine is a retrofit.
I have a SIM in my A6 which gives me access to news, weather and (importantly) live and accurate fuel prices. But I'm not paying £11/month to get traffic information.

the question is HOW does CAR-NET get the info ? using a SIM-card? or eSIM-card?
I am not using the factory fitted NAV, cos CAR-NET is not functional (anymore?).

I have a factory fitted media-system in a T6 HighLine from 2016.

Robert has answered that question

it must be my understanding of the English language. (I am native Dutch).

This means CAR-NET has some kind of access to get the live data. HOW???
IMHO Robert did not answer that .
To be more specific: I want to disable all communications that the T6 is able to use for whatever reason.
Thus I want to kill the possibility of CAR-NET to contact the outer world (except bluetooth ofcos, BT is not using SIMcards )

If you don't connect your DM to the Internet via USB GSM modem or via WiFi to a local Hotspot then the possibility of CAR-NET to communicate with the outside world equals zero.
