Discovery Media Update Probs

Bin trying to update the discovery media via the VW discovercare site.
Keep getting to the end of downloading and then ‘checksum’ error
Happened several times - and it’s a long download. Tried a new SD card but got the same results.
Any ideas??

I tried, it downloaded then I get an error message 3 times before I gave up. I thought it was just me or my mac :/

You say you tried a new SD card which will not work as you can only update onto the original VW card as it has some sophisticated inbuilt software to prevent cloning.

I was only using the VW SD card.

I tried both @Nigel W - the original VW card and a new formatted, which the software accepted - there is a tick box for a new formatted non-VW card

I have successfully updated the software before using the BW card and a new SD card. Your reply gives me confidence that there is a glitch in the update software.

Ok, very odd as if you use the original card it normally just does it’s stuff. Sounds like you will have to do it the long way and download the maps separately, unzip and then transfer over.
Or......wait a day or so and have another go as sometimes the VW servers have a bit of a wobble and the download isn’t complete.

May pay you to hang on a bit as I think/hope new maps are due for release as current are now almost a year old.

That is what I was thinking, new maps must be due early in the new year. Last updated 10/01/18

Same problem must have tried 10 times on my Mac. VW UK customer care not much use just directed me to the local VW garage. I have successfully updated my maps last year but the latest version of DiscoverCare doesn’t seem to work. Does anyone know if VW intend to fix the problem?

I had the same issue, but if you manually download the files and then just copy them on to the card it all works.

I’ve only ever done it that way. I could never get the auto update thingy to work, so went old skool. Downloaded the complete package, formatted the original SD card & unzipped the download onto the card. Works every time.

Thanks for the link; I will try it out. Upset with VW, however, as they promise lifetime Satnav updates and fail to provide reliable software to achieve it!

For you Mac users out there I purchased a SD card reader for my PC and the DiscoverCare update worked first time. I must have tried 10 times on my IMac each time getting the dreaded “Checksum Error”. It seems the VW App works on PC but not Mac! I now have updated maps.

Yep agree, multiple times tried on my Mac....Downloaded to the wife's windows pc and no worries
