Discovery media

Is it a simple task to change my basic media head unit for the discovery media head unit in my 6.1, the hands free and radio pants, I've found a complete unit, but been told it will need an after market harness, will it need coding to the van

The unit will need to be 'cracked' to be able to fit to another vehicle then the wiring needs to be changed as the discover media unit is not all in one like your current one, the brain lives down by the glovebox and the dash part is effectively just a display

Thanks for that, sounds more hassle than it's worth, is something like the alpine halo a better option, he's asking 800 plus vat for the complete unit

I’d go halo as my discovery keeps failing to boot up and requires a hard reset every few days. When I took it in for a service recently it obviously wasn’t lucrative enough for the dealer to even bother looking over

So if I go halo will it or can I activate all the vehicle setting, tyre pressure etc, the factory fitted unit is so basic it's like something from the 90s, I'm really fed up I changed from a good spec Kombi to a panel van also with a good spec but no nav, thought it would be a simple upgrade

With the correct adaptor you should get all the functionality you currently have and more
