Do I need a smart shunt?

I've been collecting parts to power my day-van electrics, with the system as below:

250a non-smart alternator (mainly to power the amps in my stereo)
Fogstar 280ah cells with a JK B2A8S20 BMS
Renogy 40A DC-DC charger
Renogy 1000w inverter
Renogy portable 100w solar panel
Compressor fridge (TBC)

My question is, will the JK app be sufficient for monitoring the system? Or do I need something like a smart shunt and/or another bit of Renogy kit to see accurate info?

The fogstar BMS app is good enough.

I'd stick with that for now.

Makes a cheaper and simpler install to start with

Depending on the BMS, some can't see draws under 1a so if you have something small running constantly like a 4g router, it'll quite quickly get out of sync with the actual SOC and won't show the correct charge percentage.

But, no you don't 'need' one.
