I shouldn't have that gap.
You can pull the lower section of the seal off and refit it to try and close the gap.
I've done that before, pulling the seal off up to about half way up the rear sides and refitting, pushing it back on tight to close the gap.

I had no gap before carpet lining and did the carpet lining myself and put the seal back on and still no gap
Fyi here's mine....
yeah pretty sure if you put carpet in, it'd actually do the opposite if anything... because youre making the circumference around rear of the van actually smaller because theres more material.
ill redo it when i get a chance, might be why its rather loud in the back atm... or have something to do with it!!!

Look how blooming clean this is.. hell's Bells man.. get and put something in it..you can come and help me for a few days and get some use out of the white beast..
always start at the join! then work backwards.. this way you will always keep the right amount by judging the join.
