I have a late 2018 DSG T6. Originally it was loosing coolant via EGR. After the health check they stated the fly wheel needed replacing as it was noisy. I was hearing this noise in neutral and was aware of it. I thought great thanks VW…..
So the noise I was hearing was still apparent after the works. (I thought it was the tensioner but wasn’t too bad.
I had a friend that works at Seat/Skoda , who got it in the ramp for me and 3 mechanics all said the fly wheel needs replacing. I was under there also and it was rattling badly. He looked on the main VW system and there’s nothing logged about the fly wheel being replaced!
Lately it’s been getting slightly worse. I took it back to the place that diagnosed it and supposedly replaced it, they said it’s normal don’t worry about it. Now I’m thinking did they even even replace it???
I’ve now got it booked in to another branch which I’m expecting resistance from.
Any advice on what approach to take on this matter? Maybe ask for something in writing?
It’s still under extended warranty but I have a feeling they want that to run out……
