EGR delete and ECU update in Scotland

I'm considering an EGR delete and having the ECU mapped to forget it has an EGR.

Does anyone know of a garage that could sort this out anywhere in Scotland?

Ta.

EGR regulates internal engine air temperature, i would leave it alone.

Sure, but on the other hand there is this discussion around the EGR on 204ps vans actually wrecking the engine:

Hard to know which way to go on this but nobody with the EGR delete appear to be having any issues.

+1 for having an EGR closed.

Keep it stock and seemingly prepare myself for an 8k+ engine swap/rebuild

Or block it, potentially save myself the 8 grand engine bill. Worst case, we need a new block anyway?

Personally the potential savings is enough to sway me.

Another for blanking the egr.
Did mine and never looked back, drives better and better mpg, just make sure whoever does the software update knows what they're doing.

Yes, that's the issue. No idea who to approach locally.

Bump for any recommendations in Scotland?

Ta.

No joy so far. Local garages seem adamant that DPF needs to go at the same time :(

At this point, contact details for any UK garage/remapper that has successfully carried out this work on a forum member's van would be useful.

Looking EGR emulator from Tafmet, might be an easier way forward.
Just back from talking with local VW specialist garage near Inverness and he didn't think there would be a problem long term just blanking the EGR but he only knew about the Darkside Developments remap.

Mine was done near Newcastle, any good for you?

That's doable. Who did the work and how has it run since?

Did they fully 'delete' the EGR or just map it out?

Thanks!

As above, mapped out and blanked never run better, been done since May and no problems. Done at my very trusted local garage by someone he calls in to do remaps where both my vans and my car go and have been going to for 30 years.
Wouldn't go anywhere else.
I'll dm You a link if you want.

Details of the blanking kit you use would be appreciated as well if you would recommend it? Thanks. I am a lot further north than @Cuiken but any info is good.
Thinking its the way ahead to keep my van going well for another 50k

The blanking kit was supplied by the lad who did the remap so I don't know anything about it I'm afraid.

I fitted the Tafmet Emulator and EGR blank kit, Was much cheaper than getting it mapped besides being DIY. No need to travel, happy so far.

I’m in another thread discussing this, I’m contacting Ecotune in Hillington, Glasgow to see if they can do it as they are German car specialist tuners, appear to be well used and been around a while, they have a T6 work van themselves, I’m thinking that I will need to delete the dpf too when doing the EGR delete, so I don’t get any more issues with the dpf clogging up that I had earlier this year and had it cleaned out.

Did you guys delete the dpf too? Or had any issues since?

Didn’t delete or do anything else to the DPF as it’s not a problem.
Blanked the EGR and installed the Tafmet black box rather than map the ECU.
Been working absolutely fine since it was done and in fact I think it is a little better at idle and during pick up.
From what you said in the other thread about turbo oil issues for sure that would probably make life difficult for the DPF.
