Hi all
Hope you’re having a top festive break
I’ve mentioned before about what I believe to be a bad/old battery in my van. Currently have a charger as don’t drive as frequently now and find that it’s OK managing this way, but ideally I’d love to be able to treat it like my previous car and hop in at anytime and it just works/starts.
Is this a pipe dream? I’ve read that generally people say it’s just a ‘thing’ you kinda have to live with with the vans. As in if you don’t drive it for a week or two then to broadly expect to need to plug it in for a top up. Whereas used to a car that we might not drive for two plus weeks and would always start first time.
Like I say, that is currently what we’re doing plugging in n managing but looked at the battery and it looks a bit of a mess if I’m being honest. The cables attached not tidy/neat and more than I’d expect if I’m being honest.
(just a note to say that this isn’t a converted van, so no extra battery, heater, kitchen etc etc. Just believe it’s had replacement headlights fitted before we bought, could these be the cause of possibly more drain than necessary?)
Was thinking if it might be worth replacing battery and having all those connecting cables reviewed before wiring back up again to see if maybe it’s draining /pulling more power even when off perhaps?
Don’t want to replace battery and connect it all back up ‘as is’ if going to continue having to plug the van in really. Might as well not spend the money on new battery as can manage, just not ideal.
Guess you could argue it’s getting us used to living with an electric vehicle in the future but be good to not have to ideally.
If anyone has any advice or can recommend a garage in the midlands (Leicestershire?) area that would do the battery swap but also review how things are currently wired up to it please that would be great. Not sure if any ol’ garage would do that, I’m which case I’m happy to take it to my usual one, or if a more specialist T6 would be better…
Thanks I’m advance
