Engine cover - cosmetic or acoustically dampened?

Hi all - general query regarding the top cover in the engine bay (currently missing on our T6) - is this purely cosmetic or is it an acoustic baffle?
If its cosmetic I wont replace, if it is to reduce noise, I will...

Probably not fitted from factory rather than missing. Mine doesn`t have one. Cant say what benefit it does noise wise.

Thanks Al, was wondering as there are 3 large threaded holes on the rocker cover casting (I think from memory), just hate having things 'missing'....

I'd say cosmetic.

But there is sound suppression on the bonnet.

The one I was thinking of is this one....
Had similar covers on the last several cars (mainly Jags), and ISTR they were acoustic as well as cosmetic....
