I have a Caravelle 2019 executive 204bhp and it seems to wear out tyres very quickly, i now have winter tyres on the front and the FNS in is basically falling to bits with pieces dropping off it....any advice as new to the forum ??

Some pictures of the tyre wear would help people offer advice.
There are a number of potential causes.

Initially I would get your alignment check and corrected, hunter would be the best way forward.

As above, how are the tyres wearing might help us give more guidance on this.

I have had the alignment done twice in a few months, however the it still pulls slightly left and the steering wheel is still off centre. 099F9ADB-8110-4D78-877E-8F38E28D4BFE.jpeg08931A82-A51F-4AC7-9494-6035DAACFD9C.jpeg

See below re photos of FNS tyre.
Thanks

Have you altered your suspension setup?
No suspension alterations at all.

Hunter is a laser alignment system that checks all four wheels - camber, castor and toe (not just the tracking [toe] on the front)

Are they Bridgestone all season tyres? My fronts have gone the same!

Hi Ian
Thanks for that re Hunter system and that sounds good if i can find somewhere nearby that uses it.
yes they are Bridgestone all weather control tyres, i just can’t understand why its only the FNS that’s falling to pieces.
There is some power being layed down with the 204 bhp but even with the odd unintentional wheel spin you would expect both tyres being worn especially with the front end weight of the van.
The tyres are 12 months old now and the set before this lasted 9 months which i was absolutely amazed at !!

Mine too are 12months old. Mine is a 102 and doing it on both fronts - faulty batch maybe? I dont think its worth kicking off because they’ll just say not designed for commercial vehicles albeit the rating is correct.

I actually bought some 17” steels and a set of winter tyres (something I hoped to avoid with the all seasons). I’ll stick the Bridgestones on for another summer then look to change for some summer tyres this time next year.

Roundabouts and road camber ;)
I get that about the roundabouts etc but i left my quick driving days behind a good few years ago and plod around now, no other vehicle i have ever owned has ever worn tyres out this quick and like someone else said its almost worth putting a steal set on which aesthetically looks poor but hey ho !!

“Looks poor” That’ll upset a few of the members

I’ve had 6 tyres scrubbed out in 2 years due to bad alignment, I’ve taken it to 5 different places and the only place that has managed to get the alignment correct is @BognorMotors and that was before they got a Hunter. If you tell us what area you are in somebody on here should be able to advise you on where to go and get the alignment done properly.

It's nothing to do with grit on the side of roads is it? Mainly with it gathering on the kerb side and then pulling off at slow speeds turning full lock cutting them up? Is back the same?

Back are rolling absolutely fine with even wear, !!

I live just outside of Crewe Cheshire so if anyone can recommend a place where Hunter is being used then that would be good.
My steering wheel is still offset and thats with 2 lots of alignment being done on the van, i just want the lot aligned to make me a happy VW Caravelle owner !!

Another question with wheel alignment, should the alignment itself also naturally put the steering wheel in a normal central position as it should be, as mine isn’t and you get that slight pull to one side and when on a straight road without much of a camber, the steering is miles out from being true.

Yep, steering wheel should be straight, you may find that even if your alignment is 100% that the vehicle will still pull to the left due to the shoulder of the tyre being worn.

It’s only a van, but many places struggle to align them properly, but hopefully you’ll find a specialist, maybe swap front to rear tyres and see if the tyre wear continues.
