I have just been told that I need to have my inlet manifold replaced, at a cost of £14560 which will be done on Monday, I'am told it is because I do not do enough milage is there any way apart from more miles can I stop this happening again.
Thanks

If it’s heavily contaminated with carbon it could be cleaned but garage labour rates and their willingness to clean it would probably dictate replacement.
The more milage you do the more carbon, what they maybe trying to indicate is that you need to do longer journeys to heat up the engine.
What’s the mileage and when was the EGR replaced if ever?

That seems like a very high price to change an inlet manifold.
Have a Search with ‘inlet manifold’, there is plenty on the Forum.
You should get a cost breakdown with the quote so you can see what the garage has in mind with parts and labour.
I’ve read in some cases the fuel pump needs to be removed and in others it hasn’t been.
It’s always worth getting a second quote, perhaps from an independent specialist.

Thanks, will have a look round only thing with a dealer fit is the 2 year warranty.
Dealers warranty needs some scrutiny with the ‘small print’.
You’ll have warranty where ever you go providing you get a detailed quote and invoice.
