Fiama side awning and drive away awning: gap?

We’re looking at the possibility of having a Fiamma side awning fitted and will use the inbuilt awning rain for a drive away awning when needed. Can I ask, what happens with the gap between the van and awning with regards to rain? Is there a product available to breech the gap?

i used one inch thick marine foam tape, it’s self adhesive and fills the gap nicely ... put this in to your Ebay search box:
Marine Neoprene Seal Hatch Tape 1” x 1” Black
