So, after a wait that felt like a lifetime, I collected my new (to me) Camper King van. It’s a MY17 T28 102 Highline with the “Santorini” conversion.

First impressions - love it! Build quality is excellent. Everything works as it should, with no rattles or squeaks. Despite having 50k miles on the clock, it still feels tight and pulls well. Body work is excellent considering the miles with just a few minor bits that will be addressed.

Spent the weekend at a local site with the wife and daughter getting to know her, testing out the awning etc.

My main concern is that it has an uneven stance - lower at the back, so will need to look at the B14’s at some stage. Oh, and the RIB bed isn’t the most comfortable of beds - just need a topper!

Please see photo’s...hope people approve?

We went away this weekend and, although it wasn’t freezing outside, there was definitely a nip in the air. The van was lovely and warm once we’d got it to a comfortable 18 degrees with the diesel heater. My missus then turned it down to 16 degrees as she was too hot. As far as I can remember, the heater only kicked in a couple of times during the night whilst maintaining the set temperature.

As far as I’m concerned, if you have windows all round and a pop top, any heat in the van will be lost through there anyway. After all, VW don’t insulate the Calli...! ;)
