Flywheel

I've a 2019 Kombi. Last major service the VW main dealer told me that the flywheel is vibrating and I WILL need to have it replaced. Quoted €2000 for the job. So I said well if flywheel goes it's kaput for the van so I called them up to book it in (after saving up) & hoping for a discount. Then they told me that it was "only advisory". I'm now wondering well does it need to be done or does it not need to be done. The engine sometimes sounds like there's a bunch of nails rattling around in it. Then other times it runs normal. Sometimes at idling at traffic lights when in gear (D) with foot on the brakes it will give a little blip that rocks the van. Then nothing again. So there is something up and it does seem like flywheel but nothing definitive. Timing belt and water pump done last service too. Suppose safer to get it done but spending that sort of money they'd need to be certain it is the flywheel. Is there a way to tell beforehand?

I've had the 'advisory' comment from two garages and when pressed both said it was fine for now.
I have heard a van that defaintely needed a replacement flywheel and it was very obvious. On startup you'll hear a 'clattering' in park.

2000 euros sounds alot.

Yeh. 2k is an absolutely savage amount. It includes flywheel and clutch & labour I was told. Mine is DSG so auto gearbox.

There isn't a separate clutch on the DSG (there is but it's contained within the sealed DSG box) like a manual.
So only the flywheel gets replaced then presumbably? Sheesh it's even more costly than I thought - I thought there was some sort of clutch plate replaced too the way they explained it to me.
