Fuel Flap Cover No Longer Sitting Flush

@Teejay1 are you talking about the rear / base of the seat popping off when you swivel around ?

It's the side catching on the stud underneath as it's swivelled. I took it into them to have it replaced, they replaced the back only and with the wrong colour. Took it back and the rest trim was hanging off. Still not replaced the sides as they said they would. Going back to have the surround replaced. Hopefully the correct colour this time.

Good luck with it, sounds like a right pain....

@TeeB yeah a silly mistake and a few milometers ends up me costing over £170

@Teejay1 The WD approach helped it slightly for me but I could not get it to sit flush. Did you manage to fix it?

It has made quite a difference to mine gave it a gentle tap near the hinge and it's sitting as good as flush.

I need to get some grease I'm thinking silicone.

Nice one. I was probably too heavy handed with mine prior to trying the WD and may bent it even more. Glad you managed to sort it out.

Another thanks to the forum! My daughter got out the passenger side and manage to hook herself up to the fuel flap. It wouldn't sit flush, luckily there wasn't any major bends in the hinge. I didn't have WD-40 but had bike chain oil applied it to all moving parts, wiggled it for a good 3-4 mins and now sits back flush.

Cheers

Had the same problem with the fuel flap not closing properly, and getting worse….. - then remembered this thread, and it was cured within seconds with some WD40 then some silicon spray on the hinge mechanism.

What a fab forum /resource this is!

I cut thin strips of duct tape and wrapped them round the wee bit that goes under the door making it thicker, it now sits further in and flush with the door. I can see the tape but it doesn't bother me, well not so much that I'd pay VW £170.
