Gas Drop Out Vent Near Exhaust

Hi all,

I was about to install a gas locker in the kitchen pod on the drivers side when I noticed that the exhaust pipe runs down this side of the van.

Is it an issue for the gas drop out vent to be so close to the exhaust pipe? There is a heat shield on the underside of the van between the exhaust and where my drop out vent pokes through, but I’m not sure I like the idea of a potential gas leak being vented out so close to a heat source.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or am I being overly cautious?

Thanks!

I think the regs state 30cm from a heat source, but my drop vent is in the kitchen unit.
If I’m static then the engine is off and exhaust cool. If I’m driving the bottle is turned off. If it leaks from the bottle I’d like to think it will dissipate into the moving air while I’m driving along or I’ll be a huge flamethrower.
But as you say, it’s not a direct heat source as the heat shield is there.
It’s all about your acceptance of risk.
Bearing in mind you should have a drop vent at every joint, so there should be one under the hob, so that vents down to the exhaust area anyway.
