General advice on conversion valuation..

Hi all,

Can anyone provide some advice on how to value a conversion. I'm about to get my T6 converted and I want to confirm that, as a minimum, the value of the completed camper will be:

Cost of van + cost of conversion.

Is this generally the case?

Most of the specialist camper insurers e.g Aplan/Comfort/Just Kampers etc, will do an agreed value policybased on invoices/receipts etc.

It may be worth what you spend on it given the current market, but if you are not doing it to sell and make a profit, does it matter? I'm guessing that you are building it to your own spec for your own use and keep for a good few years. If that's the case, it costs what it costs. It's value will only be of relevance when you come to sell it, by which time it will have depreciated anyway.

Thanks dubber and yes you are correct - but it was just for insurance valuation..

I'm guessing it would be cost of van plus conversion, as that's what it would cost to replace like for like. It's a bit like an agreed value insurance for a classic car, although in that case, there are often none equivalent that you could go and buy with payout money.
