Grommet / Bung underneath front Seat

Just working up the nerve to fit a diesel heater under the van below the drivers seat, watched a few videos and it mostly looks simple enough.

Popped the drivers seat off to drill a 64mm hole through the floor for the 'Hot Air in' pipe and the floor looks subtly different to the videos I've seen, they show an unused grommet, where I have one with a wire going through it, and the vids also show an empty 7mm ish hole where I have a dome nut. I'm guessing there is something bolted in below close to the area I'm planning to drill. Can anybody cast any light on this, I've got a set of ramps booked for tomorrow and was trying to drill the holes before then to save some time but don't want to chop a loom? What could be mounted there?

The dome nut is an earthing point. Nothing connected to that underneath.

I can't remember a wire going through that rubber grommet on mine. But it doesn't look OEM to me (but I could be wrong on that).

Thanks, I decided to take a look tomorrow when its on the ramps, seemed sensible. I think the van was almost a virgin when I got it @ 2000 miles so I suspect the wire is factory or linked to perhaps a factory options fitted.

As Skyliner says, the domed nut is a ground point. Mine has been removed and a heater pipe goes through that area.

The cable looks OEM to me and appears to have a VW AG sticker on it to the left. Pop the serial number 7LA 971….(whatever the rest is) into Google and it may give you an idea what it’s for. Heated or electric seats maybe? You could maybe disconnect it (once you know what it is) and move to one side while you do the hole then re-reroute it alongside the pipe with a suitable grommet and protection.

As suggested above the stud is just an earthing lug. 7LA 971 176 D is the tag on the loom, that loom crosses the tunnel so I just moved it out of the way whilst drilling for the heater instal , then I split the grommet installed all the extra looms, popped it back in then sealed it. Took 6 hours to fit the heater (two of us, neither having done it before but both of us having very different experience work wise) it was mostly quite straightforward really, removing those silly clips from the under van covers was a pain, but the rest just needed a methodical, careful thought process. We did have the use of a lift which was hugely helpful and I'm not sure we could have done it laying on out backs (we're both retired)
