I’ve asked and I see a few others also asked about removing the rear mechanism to sound proof and insulate the door. Most have decided not to, fo good reason - it looks complex!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained - I decided to give it a go this morning;
I played around with a few clips and they are appear to be quick release, so I started methodically removing them
I marked the two black bolts location with a sharpie to help with alignment later
They it’s a case of removing the two nuts and two black bolts. The only challenge is the plunger - you need to mower the whole mechanism for it to drop out of it’s location.
Add additional. Sound proofing and insulation. I didn’t add to much insulation as wasn’t sure on clearance.
Refit before you forget where everything goes and test the door latch and lock
Boom!
I hope this helps.
