I’ve been asked for either a habitation certificate or gas safety certificate on my brand new camper conversion on a brand new van and am struggling to find anyone to carry out does anyone know anyone able to carry this out I’m in bolton Lancs area
Thanks in advance

Who did the conversion? Can they not supply the necessary paperwork?

Strange for an insurance company to ask for one. Sorry, cant help on the question though
Flux asked me if mine had one (it does, converted by an approved NCC converter) but never actually asked to see it.

The guy that bought my van messaged me the other day asking me if I had a habitation certificate as his insurance company (Comfort) was asking for one.
I didn't have one and I've never been asked for one by the two insurance companies that I used (Caravan Guard and LV) so guess it depends who you insure with.

aye i think it was Comfort that asked me for one last year when i got a quote...
I've been with Comfort for the last couple of years and they've never asked me for a certificate of any kind, but they did want to know the name of the convertor. I'm pretty sure they have a list of "known/trusted" convertors and suspect you only get asked for certs if your particular convertor isn't on that list.

Had our van 7+ years and have been insured with Aplan/Brentacre/Just Kampers/Adrian Flux/C&CC. and never been asked for a habitation cert..

What happens if you say "no I haven't"? do they decline your insurance or just say "Oh, ok then"? They are just reading a script & it could be a tick box for a Nice to have. A bit like when you get a quote for home insurance & they ask if you have an alarm fitted.

After I'd told him I didn't have one he messaged me back and said that he told them the name of the converter and that they were happy with that.
