handsfree issues MIB2

I fitted a MIB STD2 unit with component protection removed to my 2016 T6 highline.

All has been working fine apart from the handsfree telephone. I can make and receive calls fine and hear the other person fine but they either can't hear me at all or hear a high pitched squeal to the extent I can't use the function.

Any ideas? I've tried disconnecting the gps I fitted and the problem remains. It's been suggested it may be that the mic is connected to a bluetooth module rather than the head unit but I wouldn't know where to start with that.

Sounds like a possible microphone fault

certainly points towards the mic as it's only the other side of the call that can hear it. It started as soon as I replaced the head unit

What was the old headunit? Have you checked a pinout diagram. In know between rns510 and mib2 pq headunits the mic is pinned in different terminals should be pins 6 and 12 of the blue plug in the quadlock. On the diagram it's labelled FBAS1

Looking at the old unit it was a MIB2 entry or MIB PQ . just tried moving the wires on the blue connector from 1 and 7 across to 6 and 12 but no luck

No mate just needs repinning my bad thought it's not pins 6 and 12 labelled fbas1 that is reverse camera it's 1 and 7 labelled mikro.

Yeah the blue one mate. Tbh on a T6 I'd of been surprised if they changed the quadlock configuration depending whether you had basic or discover media fitted but it is VW and they do like to mess with people heads. I'd change mic first then the cable from mic to headunit if that doesn't work (doubt it's the cable) if it's not that could be a parameters issue on the headunit or a headunit fault.

I've got the replacement mic and cable so I just need to work out ghow to get the courtesy light assembly down without breaking it. The guy I bought the head unit from said it might be that the old one connected to the bluetooth module whereas the new one should wire direct from head unit to microphone. Does that sound like it could be the cause?

As far as I'm aware all units now have BT in it was the t5.1 that had a separate module if you call me call me mate mobile is on the website www.dav-tec.co.uk
