Have I Killed My Clutch?

Being a petrol may not help? I cant speak for the VW, but whenever i have driven petrols they seem to need plenty of revs, and clutch slip to pull away, whereas a diesel needs little more than tickover.

Quite possibly, I wonder if the fact that I rarely use hill assist hasn't helped too, so use to doing hill starts via clutch bite point that I rarely use it.

Hill start assist probably won't help as it doesn't actually hold the brakes, it's just a slow release of the brake pressure if you are on an incline and only lasts for about 3 seconds.

I once had a Rover 214sli.....thought I'd arrived when I got that. Anyhow, it was a hateful little b*stard of a car.....brake discs warped for fun and the clutch had gone in under 10000 miles and just over a year old. I'd never had to replace a clutch in my life. The dealer told me it was probably faulty so I told them to go ahead and replace it.....surprise, surprise.....they handed me a bill for just shy of £300, which 20 years ago stung a bit! With two nippers in tow and a wife to pick up from work and then a dash to work to start my nightshift, I never forgot it.....I felt like I'd just been dry b*mmed! This has brought it all back to me!! I have a mate who rocks his car back and forth holding it on the clutch.....he thinks he's got great car control....I just think he's sh*t driver with no sense of mechanical sympathy!! Clutches are a contentious issue!

That's daft. My Vivaro was 10 seconds, and had an option to extend the time it held the vehicle. Is it not an adjustable option on VCDS?

My clutch is slipping with only 9k on the clock and I can’t help wondering if it’s my fault :(

I use clutch control quite often which I’m sure doesn’t help and until now I have been guilty of lightly resting my foot on clutch pedal. Is the pedal to sensitive for that?

That said I have already had a power steering pump failure and lock failure (still love the van :)) so part of me hopes it’s another fault, otherwise it’s an expensive bill
Hi had my clucth replaced at 18000 miles by vw under warrenty it was jummping all over the place.
they didnt want to do it tho took them a week
