Headlight rotary switch error check help please.

T6 Highline, 2018, H4 lights, rotary switch with the automatic setting.

So, the genesis of this issue was a long drive home in the fog on Sunday. Used both front and rear fog lights for the first time in ages and the lightbulb warning light came on the dash - assumed it was one of the fog light bulbs. However, it turned out that the passenger side dipped beam was off and I assumed blown bulb.

Next day I wanted to double check before replacing the H4 bulbs so turned the engine on and moved the switch through each position to test and observed some odd results: (not 100% sure on the nomenclature for each light type - apologies if not clear). The warning light on the dash is now not showing.

Off - driver side DRL (I think) beam on, nothing else

Auto - dipped beam on both sides on, plus driver side fog

Sidelight - dipped beam and DRL on driver side, dipped only on passenger side

Dipped beam - (as per auto setting) both dipped beam, plus driver's side fog

Dipped beam, pulled out one click - both dipped beam, plus both front fogs

Dipped beam pulled out 2 clicks - both dipped beam, plus front and rear fogs
Main beam seems to work fine with the left hand stalk.

I've taken the unit out but haven't disconnected anything - it's the one with a smaller (10 pin I think) connector. I was hoping to see a part number but there wasn't one immediately visible. I haven't done any multimeter testing yet, not sure what I'm looking for to be honest..

With the ignition off and the key out, all the lights go off and I do not get any warning beeps.

So I think I have proved that at least all the bulbs work, but they do not always come on in the right way. The fact that one of the lights comes on with the switch in the off position is the thing that I find the most odd. Can I conclude the switch is cooked? A quick search has shown some replacement models but I note that they are not compatible with the Stop/Start function which I have. Do I need to look more closely for the part number?

Looking at other threads, could it be that somehow the switch needs to be reset? I have a cheap OBDII code-reader but nothing that will recode/reprogramme anything.

As ever, thanks in advance for any hints, help or pushes in the right direction,

Sam
