Help needed regarding baby (seat)

Hi all,
Looking at getting a T6 and we have a baby on the way. We do regular trips to France and bring back some stuff to sell on. Could you please tell me if on a panel van set up you can have 2 adults and a baby seat/ child seat in the front? I’m aware that in the kombi this wouldn’t be an issue but we would need the extra space. Is it legal and all gravy baby? Thanks for any help, seriously.

Legal - yes
Do-able - yes
Comfortable - no
Also, no isofix on any T6 front seats - not a deal breaker but worth bearing in mind.

A kombi with 2+1 rear seats and the 2 rear seats removed would be better and wouldn't impact much on load space especially if you go LWB.

Despite the seats you can still get masses of stuff in the back of a kombi

Thank you. What a great reply.
I hadn’t thought about the kombi minus 2.
Looks like the single is on the left so that’s good. Would have to be a T32 to get the vat back which is fine, although I hear a little rough on the ride. Much appreciated.
Do you know If the dsg would be covered by an extended warranty? The egr is one thing but if we decide to go dsg so my partner can drive as well would be good to know it was covered in case it plays up. Although it’s “sudden failure” according to VW. Makes me nervous. If you can’t help with that question no worries, thanks again

As long as you adhere to the service intervals for the DSG box I don't see why it wouldn't be covered by a warranty? Also you don't hear of many DSG failure horror stories for the gearbox used in these vans so I wouldn't worry too much about it

We have two boys (9 and 7) and two dogs! My only regret was that we didn’t buy one upon arrival of the first child, rather than splashing out on various cars eg Freelander, Discovery (twice!) We are now on our second California (DSG this time) and have never looked back. Get a seat in the rear with isofix - it makes the world of difference! You will still be able to cart loads of stuff! If you’re bothered by the ride, let @CRS Performance work his magic!

It really depends on the size of your passenger..my other half is comfortable on the passenger side next to our baby seat that sits in the middle...however if someone a bit more sizable gets in the passenger side, i advise them to do their seatbelt up before they close the door!

Its quite nice having the 3 of us up front, our lad loves it too, however is getting to the age now where he is kicking the gearstick! - mines a 5sp manual, so once its in 5th, its not a big deal but i can imagine if you had an auto you might end up getting kicked in the neutral from time to time!
