I have spent hours searching and reading on this forum and others, so pretty please don't tell me to do a search 
I posted a previous thread about an intermittent can-bus issue I was having with my 2016 T32 EURO5 140 4Motion. I have now been working through the diagnostics and could do with so advice, please.
Using VCDS, I can see that when the problem occurs, the engine ECU does not respond. When the problem clears the engine ECU is reachable but reports errors. The other modules also report communication errors. So far, to get to this point, I have:
1) Checked and cleaned the connectors on the BCM and the engine ECU. There was no sign of corrosion or moisture.
2) I have replaced the BCM to ensure the CAN gateway is good.
3) I have checked all the earth/ground points that I can find.
The symptoms are:
1) Nearly all warning lights on
2) No speedo
3) Fuel gauge goes up then down
4) Door locks open and close (I expect closing because of random speedo data but not opening)
5) Sometimes the rev counter also does not work, but I can have rev but no speedo, or neither.
6) Sometimes, the van won't start, and you have to keep trying it, I am guessing this is a communication issue with the engine ECU.
The fault is there more often than not now, but when the speedo works, I can clear all the codes, and it is back to normal for a while.
I think it is either the can-bus cable between the BCM and the ECU or a failing ECU. My questions are:
1) Is it likely to be a wiring loom failure, and has anyone experienced this before?
2) Do you think it is a faulty ECU, and it is best to replace or repair it?
I have read that I will need to get the original ECU cloned to another ECU for the immobiliser data to be transferred. Also the van is remapped, can the map be transferred or is that coded to that ECU?
Any advice we be greatly appreciated!
