My teenage lad (bless him) left an unopened can of pop in the dash drinks holder.
When I returned a few hours later of blazing sun ...
I was met with ...

Completely burst open, and unbelievably hadn't sprayed absolutely everywhere .

The holder was half full of pop, and a couple of drips on the A pillar..

Suppose it stopped me killing him...

Wowsers... And it's not even hot summer yet!

I've heard of Randy van Warmer, but not Hot Van Warning, are they related?

The issue is the VW dash, and the enclosed nature of the cup holder. Cruising around France and Italy a few weeks ago, we noticed that a bottle of water got really warm, even driving around with the aircon on. This was because the dash absorbs heat, and cool air can't get round the outside of the water bottles.I even started to work out how I could divert cool air from the air vent beside the cup holder into the holder - something to look at when I get a chance.

I concur.
The Mrs puts her water bottle in the door card.
I opted for the dash top cup holder. Cruising back down the A1 the other week on hot afternoon, grabbed the bottle, flipped the spout and drew up a gobfull of warm water! o_O

If you;ve bought a T6.1 van-x glove box cover be warned that the self adhesive tape they have used does not like the heat (and it isnt even summer). Mine failed and "popped" off on Monday, luckily didnt land shiny side down. Waiting to hear from them at the moment.

I did consider buying one to fill the hole in the dash, but when I saw the price of what is essentially a bit of plastic I decided to vac the lounge carpet instead! :think smile bounce:

It's not just leaving a can on the dashboard you need to worry about. This was a very nice can of beer left in the van in a TURNED OFF fridge on a hot day ... and unfortunately it leaked everywhere. Hot sticky beer!!20220719_073117.jpg
