How hard is a Ceramic coat?

My new van is black, not the best colour to keep clean
I’m thinking of getting it professionally ceramic coated.
How hard is a ceramic coat and how well does it really protect against scratching?

The main thing is that it makes it really easy to clean, therefore less likely to pick up swirls from washing. If you drag it up the hedge, no coating is going to prevent that from scratching.

Our Tig has been coated for 3 years. It was filthy when I washed it yesterday. Snow foam, then 'shave' the dirt off in straight lines with the pressure washer. It would have been clean enough for most by then, but I did a very gentle hand wash just to make sure. Still not a mark on it anywhere.

Trust me, it might "only" be Carplan but it sheds water, and thus dirt, like nothing else I've ever seen. It's also laughably easy to apply.

A ceramic coat won't protect your paint from the physical causes of scratching by abrasion, although the less crap there is on the paint the less it will collect micro scratches during the cleaning process.
