How Long Do Your Front Discs Last?

Bembo Discs and Pads fitted from Euro on my T5.1 i hammer mine and Tow 2 tons sometimes T32 ones are fitted
Very pleased so far

Warped discs are very, very unusual, almost impossible, particularly in a 200bhp van.

My old Subaru ran 450bhp and early on I had a top end Brembo set up all round, I kept 'warping' discs, barely getting 2 or 3 track days out of them before they needed replacing.
I went mad and got a set of AP brakes, really expensive 2 piece discs and 6 pot calipers, and again suffered from warping after only a few track days.
After banging my head against a brick wall with the company that did the tuning/brakes/suspension for me I took the car to a specialist motorsport company and they checked over my brakes front and rear and then explained that the pads I was using were leaving deposits on the discs and this was giving off the impression that my discs were warped. They fitted harder compound pads, I forget the brand, cleaned up the discs, made sure they were sitting correctly on the hub with no run-out etc and I never had brake wobbles again, even on a trip to the Ring.

TLDR, 99% sure it'll be your pads rather than warped discs.

yes that . . . . sorry.

I think he meant pads at 20k x2 sets per discs= 40k per discs.

MY18 T32 204ps, work van, Fully loaded weight wise . . . . . . . . its a break and tyre muncher.

its a similar story with tyres . . . . . ill get two front tyres to one rear set. (i dont bother rotating as it to pricey to swap 4x at once)

Given the brakes installed from factory are all within manufacturers spec' it is obviously down to how often and how they are applied which affects the lifetime
I regularly watch drivers tailgating dabbing the brakes every few seconds, completely pointless behaviour and downright dangerous for all concerned.
Some of the budding F1 drivers need to book a track day.

i warped 3 sets of discs on a brand new Audi once in less than 18 months .. beat that !

98k and still on original pads and disc's all round. T32 Kombi, mainly motorway miles and lightly loaded most of the time. To be fair, a service is coming next week and they will be done then, but the garage says the front pads are fine but the disc's are looking worn.

Interesting thread. I suspect that the drivers who get the most miles out of their discs and pads are in most cases the drivers getting the best fuel economy, they plan ahead and anticipate when driving, they avoid hard braking and accelerating.

Indeed, I'm very disappointed if I get anything less than 40mpg. 725 was the max I've got out of the tank, so far!

As I said, 95% of the miles are on motorways and normally cruise is set at 58 MPH. Enjoying life in the slow lane at the mo and getting over 40mpg on a T32 204. Plus there is only me, the back seats are out and I very rarely carry any weight.
I do have the odd moment of boy racer but again this doesn't involve heavy breaking as most people see a big PURPLE van hairing towards them at 100mph they tend to get out the way.
Also, my van is stock suspension and wheels so I think that makes a huge difference to tyre wear.

EDIT : And lets not forget, I have a flappy paddle steering wheel so a lot of engine breaking goes on in my van.
I too have done a huge amount of hyw Km just coming up to 110,000 km have been told I need to do my brakes at next service. 1st time I believe but I will check on my service book (surely I would have felt it in my wallet) I’m not easy on my brakes but have flappy paddles to assist with long down hill runs, now if there was something that wore out with excessive speed it would be replaced quite often
