How much do you think I can load on here?

I’ve attached L track to one side of the rear and now I’m thinking if I add another length to the other side I could span the gap and board over to make a shelf for kit. I’ve seen a bloke in you tube use IKEA metal bed beams. Smart solution I thought as they are only 10 quid each. Now I’m not sure how much weight I could put on this shelf before damaging the van. The L track I have added so far is secured by 5 x 6mm bolts into rivnuts in the horizontal beam. Any thoughts?

Where did you get the L-track from? I could do with some.

As for taking the weight, no problem as long as the beams you use across the van don't sag. The sides will support 100's Kg in a vertical direction so you can use them for a bed. They won't take much horizontal load so if the bed sags, it will pull the sides in.

I've also used rivnuts along the centre beam to secure some cargo hooks and double as a panel fastener. Useful for pulling in the annoyingly springy 6mm ply...
If spread evenly along the beam I would imagine the horizontal (tension) load limit would be reasonable. However, as mentioned by @Littleblackflash the vertical (shear) load limit will be above anything a bed could produce. As long as the frame rests on the rail as per your diagram an doesn't pull on the rings it should be OK. Just make it as wide as possible.
Out of interest are the rivnuts steel or aluminium?
