I lift it up and put it on the roof. Ok, that's a bit glib, it's a bit awkward but nothing too taxing. I grab mine by the two lifting handles, lift it over my head and put it on the roof, from the passenger side. The kayak then sits on the roof upside down and I strap it down with a couple of good ratchet straps. There is a point at which you sort of throw it onto the roof, but only a inch or two.
We looked at this. As above, you lift it yourself, but a small step ladder really helps with getting straps sorted. Or a collapsible ladder.
The alternative is a sophisticated roof rack system like the Karitek, but that's a lot of money for a single kayak.

thanks, any pics?So I'm thinking of purchasing a set of roof bars for my SCA pop top roof so I can transport a sit on kayak, it only weighs around 20kg so I know i'm okaythere the question is how do you guys reach to put the kayak on?
