How to tell what model?

Good afternoon guys,

I did a search but couldn’t find my answer, I know you can get a build sheet for a van from the VIN, but is it possible to tell what model from the reg number?

I’ve seen a van conversion I like the look of and it’s not go the actual model on it.

Cheers

When you say "what model", are you referring to whether the van's a T5/T5.1/T6/T6.1, its GVW (T26/T28/T30/T32) or its engine power output & trim level?

Revenue weight is listed when you use the reg number on GOV.UK tax checker.

This will tell you if it's T28/T30 etc.
Yes, some vans can have their weight capacity up rated but it's a good place to start.

Start line/trend line/high line models are harder to tell if not listed in an advert and can all be made to look like each other but a keen eye can spot the difference, after bumper style it's down to factory fitted options etc.

Thank you both, I’ve used the gov site and can see it’s a T30. I was basically trying to determine if it’s a Startline etc.

Trim seems very basic on the van although it’s got AC.

The presence of AC isn’t a fool-proof method for determining trim level - whilst Highline has AC as standard and Startline does not, a lot of Startline vans are ordered with the Business Pack, which adds AC (plus a few other nicities). As @TeeCeeJay suggests, add a link to the advert.

Not so sure, looks like a painted startline bumper to me and also it has no fog lights so not a highline
The gearshift looks like a 5 speed so it’s going to be the smaller output engine also probably a 102 ?

I'm more worried about it’s due anMOT after conversion, would this affect it?
Shouldn't do, there is very little, if anything covered in an MOT test that involves the habitation side. That said, a condition of buying would be that it had a full MOT before the sale.

Also check load rating on those skinny tyres.

The two tone one he is selling is certainly a tarted up startline.

Thank you for all your input guys, it’s one to consider.
Whatever you decide to buy, remember “Caveat Emptor” Do NOT buy with your heart, there are plenty of vans out there to choose from, and there are as many shysters trying to shift shite. Take your time, ask the questions, walk away if you have the slightest doubt.

I’d agree - non colour coded door handles too.
