HVAC Right Hand Actuator Calibration

I have a problem with my 2018 T6 with the actuator arm which had broken. I have replaced the broken arm and it did the same again. Purchased a new actuator and it broke again as it is trying to drive the arm passed the end stops. I have connected to VCDS and it shows it exceeding the end stop values. I did the calibration reset and then it lost the cold values. Is this something I need to set up via VCDS? All temperature sensors seemed to be working as expected (one looks wrong in photo but actuator not connected).

I’m having exactly same problem, multiple arms & actuators later but still going beyond end points. You ever get to bottom of it?

Nope. Unfortunately not. Its going to get done under warranty hopefully. If I learn anything I will let you know.

Just bought a 2nd Hand T6 California. The heating is not working, I fed a bore scope in behind the dash and can see the flap motor spinning but the linkage doesn't move, I'm guessing it's the plastic spindle that has broken. The thing is, it had a brand new actuator motor fitted a couple of months ago, I'm guessing its the same issue. Anyone get anywhere with the motor going past its limits?

All of the flaps around front airbox seem to just need basic settings applied through diagnostics when changed. I think they should find the movement limits as part of this process.

Thanks for posting this, very useful, got the van booked into a VW specialist this Thursday. Has VW updated the little white plastic actuator arm that breaks on the back of this flap motors? I know there was a guy called TonyP on here that sold his own improved 3D printed replacement, I can't get hold of him.

Any updates, I have managed to remove my stepper motor and replaced the snapped actuator spindle, testing new one before refitting, I can see that the motor is driving past its end stops, even after using VCDS to 'adapt door end stops'. So holding off the install, do you think it is the control module that is faulty?

Hi there,

Just wondering if you did get this fixed under warranty.

I've just had the same issue on our 2019 T6 Kombi and been quoted over £1200 to repair

Thanks

Ian

Take flap motor out and open it up and clean the potentiometer inside it. Replace the snapped arm if broken. And also disconnect the HAVC unit for 24 hrs. Then recalibrate stops using VCDS. This procedure worked for me.

Does the dash need to come out for this Weety?

Just the lower dash and head unit surround. Remove black plastic cover above pedals, glove box, gear stick cover and head unit surround. I stuck my right hand in via where the air vent is next to head unit and left hand up from pedal area. I have massive hands and managed to do it. By a borescope camera to have a look in before hand. Also you will need 6mm socket and spanner.
