I am going to install my shiny new kenwood stereo at the weekend...

How easy is it to thread the dashcam and microphone wires from the stereo up to the roof lining?

Is it easier to go via the passenger side or the drivers side and any other hints and tips gratefully received...

Easy. Passenger side. Remove glovebox..passenger side airbag switch plate. (Ignition.. off or you will set an airbag code)

Make sure you have some trim tools for the plastics.

And masking tape if you want to be double careful.

Can't help with the installation but this is where my microphone is located connected to a Kenwood DMX8019DABS. The installer did originally put the microphone directly in front of the driver but I think it's looks better close to the centre. IMG_20191011_110927.jpg

That looks like a good spot, I might well follow suit...

That is the same head unit that I am installing - Do you like it?

I'm still not sure, it's certainly an improvement on the basic VW unit it replaced but not on a par with the head unit I had in my Mk 2 Tiguan. Seems overly complicated and the screen seems a little too dark in daytime and too bright at night. It's only been in 3 days so I'm still playing with (the numerous) settings. Screen marks very easily with paw prints but I guess that affects all touch screens. My OnePlus 6T mobile phone kept dropping out on my 2 1/2 hour drive home, turns out it will only work with the original OnePlus cable even though the other 2 cables I tried were good quality and worked fine in my Tiguan. Camera works well but the lines are fixed and don't turn with the steering wheel. Actually looks better in the photos, I'm sure I'll appreciate it more in time, just a little underwhelmed at the mo.

I've had the same unit a week and still getting used to it, have a good play with the audio settings, mine sounds at least 2x better than the oem headunit still with the oem speakers!

Re the screen, set the screen angle a - 2, this makes a big difference and then knock the brightness down a notch or two, seems to be somewhere near, I normally have the maps running anyway which auto switch to night mode so it's not overly bright.

Re the cable, I just use the cable for charging now, I got the wireless android auto to work so essentially it takes priority over the cable android auto hence now the cable is purely used for charging. Some details on how to do it linked below...

Wireless Android Auto - Now Working

If I learn anything else I'll post up
