Intermittent Interior Lights Blowing

Hey guys, wondering if you have any bright ideas on this!?

2016 Transporter T6 Highline

I have an intermittent problem with the brown 7.5a fuse blowing and the interior lights and rear lights dont work.

Its been happening for about 9 months at random times.

When the fuse blows then i have no interior lights, no rear side lights (fog, indicators and brakes work) and also the automatic front windows only move when the button is pressed, so i have to reset them to go up automatically

Sometimes when i replace the fuse it blows immediately, but other times if i dont replace it for a day or 2 then everything works for a bit until it blows again.

I've managed to narrow it down i think to the overhead cab lights as if i disconnect them then it hasn't blown since, but randomly I have reconnected them at the weekend and it blew straight away, but I've been trying to test more this week and reconnected them on Monday and it hasnt blown since.

The next symptom, which happened today for the first time is that when driving the overhead lights were dimming and glowing whilst driving when they are only set to come on when the doors open

Any ideas much appreciated

Thanks

Dave

Sounds like a short to ground somewhere in the loom. Have you had any work done?

Last January I had a company put in a leisure battery, the cabling for that goes from the battery and comes in where the gromit is under the seat.

I've carpet Lined the back last Feb and put roof lights in, but not done anything in the cab

I took all the roof panels off last weekend and checked the loom from where it comes out of the cab behind the passenger seat all the way to the tailgate and couldn't see anything

This started a couple of months after this was done

The courtesy circuit comes out under the dash, down between the seats then heads towards the passengers B pillar and up to the roof. I'd have a look in that area, maybe the loom has been trapped under the seat.

ok thank you, I didn't know that and haven't looked there. I did poke cables through from one seat to the other through the void to go from the leisure battery to the circuit board.

I'll let you know how i get on.
