Is it just me or..........

Is it just me or could some of the design elements of the interior been soooo much better with a very small amount of extra effort...
For example the closing lower glove box, the person who designed it obviously wasn't talking to the person who designed the handbook as it doesn't fit...how difficult can it be?? If it was only a few millimeters wider inside you could also get an A5 envelope or document in there without having to bend it...Doh!
Then there's the rear view mirror...I cant help thinking someone designed the shape to perfectly reflect the whole of the rear window and then some numpty turned the plans upside down....
I'm sure there's a host of other bits and bobs that will become apparent over time but I've only had it a few weeks.
Don't get me wrong , I really love my van!

- No pull out cup holder tray....Seriously poor.
- No closed storage at all in the commercial form. Glove box is to small for anything.
- overhead slot is now tiny. I used to keep my wallet up there now it won't fit. Just you small. Why?
- Cupholders are now miles away from reach. plus I can't have 2 coffees now at the same time.

However overall I prefer the dash to the t5.1 in its appearance but it's just way less practical.

It makes me wonder if they actually made a mock-up of the design and drove about in it to see how it is to live with day to day or just looked at it on a CAD and said "Yeah that looks o.k., go with that" (in German obviously).
Then there's the central rear headrest that blocks out 60% of what you can see in the odd shaped rear view mirror...you can have a car behind you and not even be able to see it!
I'm thinking of trawling the local breakers for one of those Audi see through mesh jobbies...

You must have hell of a big wallet then Ratty - the description "choke a dozen donkeys springs to mind". My perpetually empty, one fits up there fine.

Totally agree with the headrest issue. Currently searching eBay and the like for the middle headrest out of a Golf or Passat as they are lower because they sit down the seat back when retracted.

It's a standard size man purse.
However I deal with a few customers a day some pay cash so it stacks up quick then won't fit.

Don't usualy keep mine in the car but see your point. No doubt the person doing the design on the CAD never thought about it and the people who produce the handbooks were the same. How about the door pocket? BTW in practice engineers design somting on a CAD and af far as they are concerned it will fit as it tells them so on the screen. in practice most of the time it does not. We have clashes at work quite frequently

I put my handbook in the storage in the headliner as it fits a treat. The cup holders in the no posh dash are rubbish for cold drinks, as in the summer they're hot within minutes and winter the dash gets hot and heats it. Can't seem to win

Give one of these a go. Keeps it cold in the summer with the aircon on and hot drinks hot in the winter. It clips on and off very easy and holds you phone.

Only grumble I have is glove box, but my manual is under passenger seat and perfectly fine there. Problem I have is if I go over a bump my glove box pops open! So I have to have it locked all the while now to stop this happening !

Oh one more! Lol! The heater/aircon controls! The air flow direction select dial is difficult to see during the day for me if I am in 5th gear or 3rd.

Just had the bulkhead taken out of mine and noticed the mirror and passenger headrest issue. Unbelievable really, but will probably end up removing the headrest.
