Is my van a T5 or T6?

New Member
I’m new to Transporters, just bought a T6. I read somewhere a T5 can be made to look same as a T6 - how can I tell for definite I have a T6?

From what I’ve read the T6 conversion doesnt normally change the wings. T5 and T6 side indicators are a different unit and in a different location in the wing. Perhaps check some for sale vans on ebay to see the difference.
 
Cup holders at either end of the dash top is my go to visual check - if it's a 2015 and it has them, someone has tried very very hard to make it look like a T6.

Congrats on the new T6! Easiest way to tell is to check the VIN or paperwork; it should say T6. Also, look for the subtle design changes—T6s have a more modern grille, headlights, and interior updates compared to T5s. If you’re still unsure, hit up a VW dealer, and they’ll confirm it for ya. Enjoy your Transporter!
 
Hi all, I’ve bought what I thought was a T5 but now I’m thinking it’s a T6? It was first registered in sept 2015. I want to get a private plate but need to know what it is first I’ve tried researching but getting mixed answers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
