Can anyone tell my if this is worth it? Seems a bit pricy for a California of that age.

A mate is looking at it, I don’t know anything about the issue with the 180 engines. He does seem to be giving a lot of information about the van. Good or bad?

Only my opinion, but £32K could by a van with less baggage, and less headaches going into the future. Sounds good initially that all failures have been corrected, but all it has done really is reset back to day one and started the clock ticking again into the future. Are all the issues going to re-surface in another 65,000 miles??? Don't forget that all the rest of the van components are 13 years old now as well.

As an owner of a CFCA, with a new engine, also done by the same company I don’t entirely agree. As detailed in the listing it is unlikely to occur again due to the remedial work carried out at the same time.

You have a van with 13 years on the other components granted, but a new engine that is actually a really good unit in its current state. Mine is a 2012 and whilst you never know, I have no concerns about anything major needing doing. These are commercial vehicles designed for high miles and that one should go forever.

Calis always command a premium (and will the same, as and when your friend comes to sell it). The price is plenty but it seems well looked after. A viewing and inspection would help confirm this.

Other engines are available, but if you want the power, this is actually one of the better options because of the replacement/fixes, and newer ones just have similar issues, albeit with different causes.

The advert states that the EGR and DPF are "blanked".
While it passes the current MOT emissions test who knows what the future of MOT tests holds?
I don't know if it is possible that future MOT's will be able to identify tampered emissions systems, but it's something that you should consider.

Also if they could afford/weren't prepared to repair things properly then what other shortcuts and penny pinching bodgery might be lurking?
