Issue With Hilo Roof Securing Bolt

Hello. I think we are having the same issue, and I believe hilo have now gone into administration. Does anyone know of anywhere we could get these nylon screws? I can see you can get the bits to make them separately online, but I'm not particularly handy....
You could try Horizon Roofs - these guys bought the design rights after Hilo went bust. AFAIK, though, the nylon screws weren't used on the very last of Hilos.

Which one is playing up front or back? Post a photo of the issue. FYI myself and others don't bother with the rear fixings so you can move the rear to the front. Believe the rear are slightly longer though so may need cutting down by a few mm.

Its the front right (drivers side). I have given a good clean and lube this morning, tested it with the other nylon bolts. I think the inside of the female part on the roof itself was pretty grotty with a bit of rust.
Its moving in and out a bit better now but I still cant get the bolt to be flush with the inner side of the roof.

Yesterday (second trip out in the van) when we were driving on the motorway it felt like air was getting inside the roof and there was movement there, and you could feel that on the driver side screw handle of the roof bolt. Had a look around this morning and looks like the inner roof seal is broken, so i suspect its a few things contributing to the issue.

Any idea what this seal is called or where I could source? Not sure whether to take it somewhere to fix or if I could have a go myself.... Im Manchester-based. Any advice gratefully received

If the bolt won't pull down far enough you could trim a bit off the end of it.

There should be a wind deflector rubber strip across the top of your windscreen that the roof lid sits just behind. On later roofs there was also a 'whistle strip' fitted just behind the wind deflector that the roof lid closed on to. There shouldn't be anything on the lid of the roof apart from the roof edge trim.

All of these parts are available from the VTA store

I have just spoken to visiontech and theyre really helpful. They have suggested this seal shouldn't be on the roof at all, and should be on the van itself above the windscreen. I have ordered a self adhesive seal from them!

Brilliant, thankyou. Only had the van 5 days, this group is very helpful indeed!

@Louise T If your going to cut the bolt down put a nut the same size and thread on it first cut it to length then wind the nut off this will clean the thread up of any burrs that may cause it to cross thread

That's good to hear - VisionTech and Horizon are the same people btw.

Waste of time IMHO. Didn't even respond to emails and messages I sent recently.
Yeah, they seem to have a problem responding to emails (even when you've spent north of 40K on a conversion with them ) and yet they've always been really helpful when you call and actually speak to them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
