Hi,
JF Werkstatt are a small business based in Gloucester. We are ‘family run’, just me (Josh) at the moment with the wife being dragged in directly to help out.
The business has been created out of a genuine passion for doing ‘car stuff’ and fixing issues that others can’t or don’t want to - as well as the normal scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Our aim is to become the go to for VW commercial (and domestic diesels) in Gloucester and the South West. How we’ll achieve that I have no idea but it’s the goal.

We can’t tell you that we’ll make your van do 200mph as we don’t ‘tune’ vehicles and don’t plan to. We don’t have trade contracts in place to fit a set of 26” Rotiform BLQ’s to your T6 nor do we do conversions but, anything else is up our street.

Please feel free to contact the ‘team’ via one of the methods listed on the website and we can discuss what your vehicle might need, failing that pop in for a coffee.

Thank you, JF Werkstatt Ltd

Mate there’s definitely a gap in the market for fixing ERG and DPF issues, become the expert in this area and you’ll be swamped with work!!! Good luck with the venture

I’m yet to have a T6 in for a DPF issue but I’ve replaced a few EGR units now.

These 2 are off an early T6, 2015 Euro5 140 with 100k. Also had a timing correlation fault where someone had mistimed the engine doing a timing belt replacement. Perfect when leaving.

This was a DPF fault on the 1.6tdi engine. It had been elsewhere before as the differential pressure sensor was a brand new Bosch unit. DPF cleaner, forced regen plus a ‘spirited’ drive and some VCDS work got this one sorted.

I cleaned the same type of valve and cooler, not worth the time and effort, just renew.

Yeah I’m in the main tunnel at Morelands Match Factory. Thought the location was a bit pants at first but where people have to drive through slowly they always look in which generates quite a bit of trade.

I took a trip into Gloucester last week, to visit JF Werkstatt for suspension adjustment on my T6. Josh put great deal of care and attention into getting the van sitting exactly how I wanted it. I left very happy and I'd certainly recommend JF Werkstatt to others.

Thank you Dom, nice to have something a little different and clearly taken care of in the shed!

Josh are you any good at diagnosing potential driveshaft issues? I’ve got a slight vibration/wobble I can feel when accelerating 40-50mph. 2017 204 DSG 4m with 83k miles. No noises and it’s not too bad but wondered if you’d had experience in this area

This is potentially a minefield if it’s only a small vibration, it could be as simple as a badly balanced tyre or something affecting the balancing all the way through to perishable items like bushes. I’m more than happy to have a look (I also won’t get it in telling you I’ll definitely fix it and start throwing parts at it). My diagnosis process would be to identify the area the vibration is coming from then inspect items in that area.
Probably not a bad £20 spent to get the front wheels/tyres balanced and clean the hubs whilst the wheels are off.
Failing that, to actually diagnose a vibration when the driveshaft is the suspected cause would be very hard as it would have to go on a machine that can test for imbalances -

Thanks Josh, appreciate the advice. I think I’ll get the wheels balanced first then. Bushes were all done recently when I had coilovers fitted. The machine you mention, is that something only a specialist of some sort would have?

Honestly I don’t even know if there’s a machine that exists, it would have to factor in the movement of the cv joints which would be hard to do as they’ll create their own imbalances when not perfectly straight anyway. I know that some places do balance prop shafts but they don’t have points of articulation like driveshafts. You could always get the shaft balanced without the CV’s fitted but IMO that would be a waste of money.
The only way I know of to test for vibration of anything is to use accelerometers but in that case you need to know the exact frequency of the component you suspect to actually pin point it.
