Hi everyone,

Thinking about switching out the Exploria Kombi bed for a JK Solution sliding rock and roll.

Anyone got one that can provide pros/cons?

Thanks

Ash

Looks decent, I’ve not seen that particular bed before.

I’ve got a Streamline R&R being fitted on Tuesday, £2200 with my choice of custom upholstery and fitting included.

The JK bed is on runners and that’s where the extra money comes from, the sliding rails add quite a chunk to the cost.

The thing I don’t like about the JK and the Rib bed is that first section that spins over 180°, the hinge looks like a big weak point as there’s no support when kneeling on it to spin over the second section.

Cheers, yeah I need runners unfortunately to get things in the back day to day, they do jack the price up significantly! JK also looks to be on offer which helps to soften the blow a little.

I see what you mean about the reliance on that hinge plate, I wonder if there have been many failures of that or maybe just works it’s self off level over the years?

For anyone interested had this bed fitted this week. Very impressed so far, good build quality and the ability to move it and lock into place fully along the length of the van is great. Pricing is very competitive vs the other TUV moveable options out there.

Shout out to Dub Van Styling who fit these for JK, did an excellent job with the fitting and really took care of my pride and joy while doing it.

The seats look really good - does the seat back recline at all or is fixed? How much headroom does the seat height give you?

So it’s a fixed seat angle, as is the backrest for the half deployed bed (check out the video on JK’s site and you’ll see what I mean).

Headroom wise, I’m 6ft on the nose and sitting in the middle seat I’ve got about an inch before I’m touching the roof when sitting fully upright. On the two shoulder seats as the vans roof curves down my head is pretty much up against the roof.

Hi, I’ve been looking at streamline beds. How are you finding yours?

We’ve slept on it a few times now, it’s quite comfy with a self-inflating mat on top. It’s very solid, I got the pull tested/mot friendly version.

The fitters are really good, it’s such a well practised installation that it only takes an hour to fit.

I’ll get a couple of pictures on here tomorrow because I’ve got the bed in place currently as I was moving a mattress today.

Great thank you. I presume the untested option is still MOT compliant ?
Have you got full width or 3/4?

Both versions are mot friendly, because they are fixed to the body and have the correct seat belts.

Mine's full width and full length, I'm 6ft 7" and still get a decent nights sleep on it.

Pretty easy to put up/down, you just need to pull the seatbelts out and remove the headrests to lower it, my wife struggles to release the catch for it to go back up again, but it's no problem for me.

I've left my middle set of seatbelts there, if I wanted to I could fit my 2+1 back in the space and then have an 8 seater.

Great. Do you have a kitchen pod or anything inside? I’m debating to get a full width and small pod or 3/4 with cupboards / kitchen. What floor do you have down?

I’ve got a factory leisure battery, but no kitchen or pod as I couldn’t stand the smell of cooked food in my van. We (my wife) cooks on a twin gas stove on a table in the gazebo or we simply eat out or get takeaway. My floor is the original Kombi rubber flooring with a couple of rugs, one for when the bed is down and the other for when it’s a seat. The seat is fitted at the very back of my van so although I’ve lost my rear load area I now have a huge area in the middle (also a lwb) instead which is great for wet days when you’re stuck inside. For one or two nights away this is the perfect setup, but any longer and we tend to take the caravan as the weather here is so bloody awful.

Sounds like just what I need, I have the rubber flooring but what about the floor brackets ? Can you cap these off?

Does anyone have the streamline bed with easi lift? The foot peddle springing up looks extremely dangerous, any issues?

Mine’s got the easy lift, they’ve either changed the mechanism or the YouTube video is showing a different bed.

There’s no foot pedal on mine, it’s a lever on the side that you need to pull out with your hand. It’s quite stiff to pull the lever and my missus struggles, but no problem for me to do it.

So take off headrests, pull out plenty of slack on the seatbelts and pull the lever at the front up to open the bed, applying a bit of force downwards on the seats to lock the seats down into position. Then to open again you slack off the belts, pull the lever at the side and it’ll spring back into position, replace headrests. The seat incline can be locked into 5 different positions which is quite useful.
