JR Volkswagen Centre - Linwood/Elderslie/Paisley - handy for most of west central Scotland
I was recommend these guys by the guy that fitted out my van.
It's a small specialist garage - nothing fancy - but an absolute gem - the unicorn in fact - the rare, specialist enthusiast, genuine garage we all dream of finding.
The shop has VW vans in it - and a lovely old Beetle too when I was last there.
It's one main guy and another mechanic, with his daughter - friendly and on the ball - helping out in the office and on the phone.
The main guy has a van himself. He's friendly and honest.
A wee example:
I had my van service (oil change only) done there.
And - a small error (no biggie) - the oil change was reset but for some reason the inspection warning came on (no idea since not due). Only spotted it after I had left. So I had to pop back to get him to reset that.
Now coincidentally I had just got new wheels (and tyres) and needed them fitted and then wheel-alignment, and had them in the van. I was going to get that done somewhere else but they said (once I got there - grrr) that, while they could probably do the alignment (check), policy was not to fit aftermarket wheels. So I asked our man at JR VW if he could do the fitting.
Not expecting it there and then.
But he said that I had come a way (30-40 mins away) so why not just do it now.
So they did. Took about an hour.
Then I went to pay and he said "no charge". You had to come and see us for the reset, he said. I insisted but he insisted!
There are good guys out there!
PS old wheels for sale!
