That's really interesting, presumably it is a resin/polymer applied as the last layer of the ply lamination process? Not one to get excited by wood but this does look mint..
Got in touch with ply guys who were really helpful and confirmed it is the following model:

Bit rich for my blood at this time of year but definitely worth a look after Christmas!
like this? We built this for a customer requiring the same thing, its also removable - heavy though as made from HPL finish Birch ply. Its a variaion of one we designed years ago. last 2 images.Yeah that looks sweet I was after a full width affair with the drawers that pull out so I can put some cooking equipment in
The one with drawers was £1400 inc vat, this was tweed finish Birch ply. We can also do one in the black phonelic Heksa ply for £1220.That looks very nice how much would that set someone back??
Pretty sure that the top pic is of my van when I had this unit fitted at The Ply Guys premises.
It's a great set up, well made, absolutely solid and definitely worth the money.
I just decided to go in a different direction and sold it to fund something different.
What did you conclude on the height dilemma? I've been doing the same my neighbours probably think I've lost it sat in the back contemplating. I am wondering about getting something like the Ply guys swb pod made. But as a two part unit. One 1400 and one 400. And keep the height closer to 400. That way when I need the extra seat I can just pop it out. Any creative ideas or anyone.I thought that may be the case I’ve been sitting on the folded seats, with a cushion on top, trying to decide if it’s comfortable . Appreciate your feedback! Thanks
I decided it was too high reckon it’s manageable but I didn’t really want to spend that much money and it just be manageable . It would also be for socialising and ‘guests’ complaining about headroom would be annoying. I don’t actually need the bed to go over the seats as it’s LWB, I just wanted the extra storage, but I’ll probably end up just getting the lower option…What did you conclude on the height dilemma?
