Kombi Door Spring Mechanism

What part am I missing here in the photo? It's the top part of the spring coving & it's missing from both sides of the closing mechanism for each door - not even the spring is on the drivers side. Both doors rattle & I think this is the culprit. The pin aligns into the part that's missing.

Hi Slothburger did you ever figure this out? Found the same problem with mine today - the bung thing has popped out

From what I could decipher you have to buy the whole catch plate not just the spring mechanism. But to remove you need an 'XSN' type tool to unscrew the type of bolts they used to attach them. I couldn't find out the part numbers for the top catch plates on both sides that I need so I'm going to call the VW dealer & get them to tell me what the part numbers are. Sorry I can't be of more help. When I find out the part numbers I'll post them here.

Here is the part number for OEM catch plate for top left & right. I had to replace both. Be careful when removing as the small plastic round bit can fall out & back into the b-pillar which happened to me resulting in yet another rattle.

Hopefully this helps you out to replace yours. They were approx. €38 euro each from main dealer.
