Mine is for sale and I’ve put an advert on here, FB Marketplace and eBay. I can’t bring myself to spend the money on Autotrader which is really expensive and I can’t see the value for money, especially when most people check several places when looking to buy. I might yet have to revise my strategy if my van doesn’t sell!
Back to OP’s question, so far I’ve had one person tell me my van is exactly what they are after and could I reserve it for them… yes of course, once you’ve seen it, asked me about it, paid a deposit and agreed a price. I then never heard from them again.
Lots of people have asked questions about it. I don’t mind that, I see that as part of the selling process. These have only come from FB.
I’ve had 2 offers for it, both within 10% of my asking price. Both came from eBay enquiries. I’ve turned both down as I think they were just too far from what I’m looking to get. I hope I don’t regret the decision.
Of those two offers, one wanted to pay my finance off directly and wasn’t interested in me doing it myself first. The other would only buy if I paid of the finance first and would not consider paying the finance themselves (it’s a lease purchase with VWFS). I found the different approaches interesting!
The only spam I’ve encountered so far was through FB marketplace. I had 3 messages from different people within the space of an hour or so all with the exact same wording - “I like your van, would you consider a swap with money your way” blah blah… I just deleted them immediately.
So far no enquiries from the forum, other than words of support for my pricing, which was helpful feedback.
I’m lucky as I’m in no rush to sell. I am soon to start a new venture and will be piling miles on my vehicle, so the value of my 10000 mile van will inevitably drop. I’ve decided to go with a Golf estate instead, but I won’t jump until my van sells and I’m in no huge rush at the moment.
GLWS OP, I know a lovely T6.1 SWB Kombi if you are looking for something newer
