Leak from manifold Runner flap

Hi,

I smoke tested my T6 intake system today and heard air escaping, finally found smoke coming from the intake runner Flap/vacuum valve.from the side by the control arm. It’s tight in there to see properly.

To confirm I pulled a vacuum on the vacuum line to the runner valve/arm to see if there was a change in sound from air escape and there was.

Is this a common issue? Will I need the whole intake manifold replacing.

Nice... Could you get a video clip ?

Not a super common fault from what I've seen.

Not as much as a clogged inlet runner flaps....

The inlet is plastic and a common part to be replaced when clogged or limited range code.

You can hear the hissing behind the noise of the smoke pump. It’s a very hard area to see with a phone but definitely is something to do with the intake manifold runner flap mechanism as when I pulled a vacuum whilst smoke testing the air leak was worse in sound and more smoke was emitted. Right opposite egr cooler so I’m assuming best to replace intake manifold as it’s most likely gummed up any how. I am tempted to try it my self but looks a big job to get access. Service position and pins needed defo

Video isn’t long sorry but you get the idea. I’ll do another one later or tomorrow
