Led downlight layout

About to get my panel van to kombi conversion booked in and they sent me a photo of the rear layout. There were 6 led downlights in the ceiling but also they seem to leave the factory lights in too . This looks really odd to me.

Anyone have any better ideas ?

Yep, remove the factory lights!

If it’s T6 you can wire the new lights to work with the courtesy light circuit and also off and on with a 3 position switch.
Can’t do that on T6.1, but you can have say 2 of the new lights on courtesy and 4 of them on their own circuit as an example.
That way you can do away with the ugly factory courtesy lights!

I have a 6.1 and my 6 downlighters are on courtesy with doors and all three rows switched separately via my Renogy M1 when closed. So front, middle or rear on/off. This is via switched negatives.

I kept the factory lights as I liked the idea of them working off a different battery to my downlighters but I did move them to centralise them which I think looks better than the factory position. The front one is now easy to turn on and off 8DD623C3-035B-46B4-BF71-F5FD6DCD9227.pngfrom the drivers seat if I need some extra light

I was hoping to do this on a 6.1. Care to explain why is it not possible? Thanks

Van in converters as we speak , they're losing the factory lights and using that feed to control the front 2 down lights then I'll have a switch in the side panel at the rear that will switch the rest off the leisure battery.
