Lights flicker when starting up the van

Hi, I added some new DLR bulbs, but as it was not very good light conditions when testing the bulbs, the dip beam lights came on, but i noticed that the lights are flickering.. would this just be the alternator not generating enough current or something more sinister going on? cheers

Which lamps did you fit?

Are they conventional or LED?

And did you mean DRL?

Sorry, yes changed to LED DRL lights, however it was the main dip beam (conventional)and the side, very small lights(led ) which were flickering.

Edit: looks like it’s just the LED that flicker.. hmm

And have you tried changing them back?

What generation of van do you have?

I can understand the new LEDs flickering - it's a common issue with electrics that use PWM or similar and DRLs tend to be dimmed when the headlights are on.

But you say the dipped beam is also flickering?

I think, looking at your video, that's just the new LEDs flickering?

What happens if you have:
- No lights at all (so pure DRL)
- Sidelights only

I don't think there is anything worrying going on, I'm 99% sure if you swapped back to conventional lamps you'd be fine.
