Lower rear centre headrests

Does anyone know definitely what lower centre rear headrests will fit to allow better rear visibility?

Specifically I have a shuttle seating set up with 3 individuals in the second row and a triple bench In the third.

I’ve left seen mention of Audi A6 and golf but can’t find any definitive answers.

I know a mk VII golf r unit won’t work as I have one….. anyone got any ideas?

I've used golf mk6 ones on my kombi, the notches are the wrong side, but nobody sits in the middle seat, and kids in the back aren't tall enough for it to matter.

Thanks for your input. Sounds similar to the mk VII ones then in that they’ll go in the holes but not latch.

Anyone tried A6 units? I’ve read somewhere that a particular year/variant works but not what that year/variant might be….

I did try and loosen the plastic bit that goes into the seat, but didn't have much joy and wasn't going to break it.
This was maybe 10 months ago, and it's not bothered me since.

Can the ‘holes’ be swapped over? @Andysmee is a guru on all things seats

Did you swap the plastic receiver tubes too? I didn’t think to try that as I thought I was searching for something that would fit the standard tubes…

I think it would work, just spend some time marking it out properly where they are meant to go and go in careful

i didn’t swap anything they fit the holes they just don’t lock in but I’ve had no issues at all.

I have a middle shuttle seat to go in row 3. I found the headrest on this rotates forward and down so fitted this in the middle of row 2 as gives a bit of extra visibility.

TBH I have windowed barn doors so am used to a full vertical block in the middle anyway.

You could always remove the middle ones completely and refit when you have passengers?

Good point - I could try swapping an outer 2nd row headrest with the middle third row on the 3 seat bench and tilt forward as you say…

Taking them out is certainly the cheapest option but would look a bit unfinished perhaps.

Tempted to try the modified golf option but struggling to find black leather. Anyone know if Audi A3 headrest “legs” are same dimensions? Leather ones of these more readily available.

Could pop into a dealers with a tape measure maybe :)

Thought of this thread yesterday when I found I could do this when my double is folded now it has caravelle covers

I've got a Mk6 Golf headrest ordered from eBay to try it out. Great way to make rear visibility better. This forum is a fantastic information resource and expensive to be a member of! Screenshot_20220326-143804.png

Well done! I’m watching a few sets on eBay too. Just a thought - if you want to modify them to latch in position you may want the outer headrests which have same profile but longer legs. The legs on the centre ones are shorter to allow for the arm rest/boot hatch….

I'll see how I like the fit and usefulness of this one when it arrives. If it looks good I may go for your suggestion. Thanks.
