Lowering advice

I'm looking to lower my t6. I'm no expert in this field so the advice I'm looking for is.....
Aside from the lowering kit, are there any other parts you would change/upgrade when installing the kit?
Is it possible to lower the van and avoid uneven tyre wear, I know wheels can end up cambered due to lowering.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How deep is your Wallet?
How low do you want to go?
The only other thing apart from the shocks/springs is, anti roll bars but thats another 4 500 quid extra and that's only if you really want to get it handle more like a car.

Get the alignment checked once you've had it lowered and you shouldn't get uneven tyre wear.

Depending on the milage, you may need to replace the top mounts and rear rubber spring cup. The drop links may be rusted on so will need to be cut off an replaced.

For me, I wanted a quality suspension setup as you will feel it every second of the drive.

My van only had 13k on it when I changed to coilovers. The drop links came off ok, but were a pain. I changed the rear lower spring rubbers, but it wasn’t really necessary. Some say front upper bearings, but I didn’t.
If you DIY, get a wiper puller from Halfords. Mine were not budging without it.

Chat to Steve at CRS or ChrisR of the van cave. They’ll suggest a suitable cost effective solution for your needs if you are not already decided.

Hi, there are some parts which might need replacing, but until you start getting it apart you won’t know for sure. We keep things like drop links, lower rear spring rubbers, front top mounts etc in stock and replace them when needed, but it’s not always needed.

Lowering can contribute to tyre wear, but a full alignment after lowering will stop that, providing the alignment centre use the correct settings.

If you haven’t yet chosen your kit, or you just want some more advice without the pressure of a hard sell, send me a PM.

Cheers,

Chris.

As has been said by others already you really won’t know which bits to replace until you start taking it apart. If the van is new then all should be good, although we’ve had top mounts fail on new.
We keep all the parts previously listed on the shelf to be able to replace what’s needed.

If it older then probably replace all, and would be good practise to do so. Get it properly aligned - Hunter is the best and you can set it up correctly.

Suspension wise there are many quality kits available, and will depend what your needs are, you are lucky with the wide choice available- we stock most for next day delivery - Always happy to chat on the phone, and advise correctly and if too far away can supply only, or just help you with the correct advise.

Please make sure you test drive, if possible, what you are being sold. Only you can decide what is best for you. We run demo vehicles for all the kits we sell for this very purpose and are happy to spend an hour out on the road with you so you can decide. More and more recently we are removing kits fitted by others who were told they were the best solution, and unfortunately for their wallet were not. Or kits fitted elsewhere that weren’t aligned properly with excessive tyre wear - see our suspension thread.

Our team have been specialising in Transporters for well over 15 years now, so have tried pretty much all the suspension available and can give you a very well informed decision to help you. All of our techs are fully trained and will work with you during fitment to get it exactly to your needs.

Spending your money wisely on suspension will be, as I’m sure all will agree, be the best money you spend on your van without a doubt.

For further help see our socials - Facebook and Instagram, to see the many van transformations - should help guide you.

As this post immediately followed mine, I just want to make it clear to anyone reading, that none of my customers have ever had suspension removed and replaced by Bognor motors. I assume that comment is aimed elsewhere, but I wanted to make sure to avoid any confusion.

To date, my customers have been 100% satisfied with my recommendations, along with the service and prices that I offer. It’s also well known, or at least I hope it is, that all of my suspension fitting is followed with a full Hunter alignment and at very competitive prices too.

I take great care to listen to a customers requirements and ensure that any recommendation I make is correct for their specific needs. I never sell a product, or even try to sell a product, that isn’t correct for those needs.

Most importantly, I always put value for money first. Despite having access to the entire premium suspension market, except for Eibach, I never put profit ahead of value and, most importantly, the correct product for a customers needs. Most of what I offer is available for next day delivery also.

I don’t have an endless supply of demo vans, I’m a very small and relatively young business and simply can’t afford them, but my advice is always very good and will always result in a product that the customer is happy with.

I assume that my combination of service, price and accurate recommendations is why several of my customers return for further work, without having to go elsewhere for replacement suspension.

Wasn’t aimed at you at all Chris, so please don’t take it as such, just offering advice as I always do and explaining our setup and what we deal with.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I don't want to go ultra low with the van, I would like to improve the look and the ride quality.
I understand the saying "buy cheap buy twice" so budget coilovers I'm not considering.
I know Bilstein's seem to be the favourite, but are they that much better? Or are there coilovers in the mid range just as good?

What’s your weight rating? If T30 or under. The best value for money kit is the STX by Kw. Allows you to set the height however you want from 35-65mm. It’s a full replacement kit that just works and makes your van more car like. It’s basically a KWV1 but with galvanised front bodies.
For T32 you have the KWv1 as the better priced kit, same as the above bwith stainless bodies.

The Bilsteins are an excellent solution, but more expensive.
Some prefer one, some prefer the other

Always easier to discuss verbally on the phone if you fancy a chat.

I hope isn’t seen as hijacking this thread but i’m close to putting Air onto a brand new (t32£ van and am wondering if I should go for the H&R arb’s at the same time? I will get adjustable bushes fitted so it can be property realigned.
As for costs, I’ve been quoted £350 for the bushes and £700 for arb’s fitted at the same time as the air... these seem pretty high to me, and thoughts?
Cheers

ps if any of you trade members would like to quote me for fitting these and a full alignment my please pm me.
