M1 Bed Fitting

Hi, first post...
I am looking at different M1 Tested beds and the one I like only bolts through the floor with spreader plates and not through and chassis members. What is the general view? Is it ok to just bolt through floor or do you need to secure to a chassis member?

So am I, was given a rib bed and in the process of recovering, have also raised it 30mm, be hoping to drill the floor soon and a guide would be handy.
